heroes recap; its coming

this is kindof weird, coz i just watched the next episode, but i wrote it so ill post it :D

This was written on the train...
just watched ep9 "its coming" for the 2nd time on my ipod. Very mixed feelings about this episode, about 2/3 of it was great, action packed Heroes that has been great in the majority of episodes this season. The other 3rd was rubbish, awfully written, no character development, no action, almost disrespectful to the actors! Anyway...

..this episode was well split between the main characters (except HRG), so ill start with Hiro/Ando. After the "cliffhanger" from ep8, it looked like Arthur was taking Hiro's power away! Trns out he just erased his memories, for now at least. Not much of a surprise TBH, as a team with powerless Hiro, and powerless Peter would be pretty useless agaisnt Arthur and poss Sylar (still unsure where his allegiance lies). Hiro managed to transport himself and Ando to a bowling alley in Japan. 10 year old Hiro was great. It doesnt really add to the seasons story, but still really funny, Masi Oka was perfect for this sort of acting! The tricks he played were great, and the numerous "i did it" (Yata!) were a welcome return. Also, the 9th wonder comics are great, i wonder how far ahead of his death Isaac wrote? Seth green plays a comic store worker next week!

We alos saw Sylar developing and discovering his powers. How frustrating that his power is essentially Peter's! the whole "you need to feel empathy" thing doesnt quite add up, seeing as in ep8 we saw a normal(ish) Gabriel, who surely would have felt empathy at some point! He should already have had Elle's power ffs! Anyways, Zach Quinto and Kristen Bell play 2 of my favourite Heroes characters and they have fantastic onscreen chemistry. Their "reunion" was done well for the 1st 25 minutes, with a bitter Elle basically torturing herself and the monster she helped create. She basically went crazy and electrocuted the hell out of him! When Sylar did his trademark finger flick I was really worried that he might actually kill her! After he absorbed her power presumably calming it of sorts, this sotry went dead. The next scenes saw Elle showing Sylar electric tricks! From despising to having a friendly chat/flirt is far too unrealistic! It was ridiculously oversentimental and stupidly cheesy. I thought this was an insult to the actors! If (when) Sylar and Elle get together, they should do so via some kind of fight (a la A-L and Sawyer in Lost!). It just annoyed me! These scenes have such potential, the writers need to not throw it away!

Peter and Claire teamed up in this episode. The writers seem to build up this epic relationship between them, but I can only remember a few times (obv "save the chherleader") that theyve even been in the same scene! I do quite like them as a team though. It does seeam sometimes that Haydyn Panieterre lets her real life relationship with Milo come across tooooo much, the way she delivered the line "My Hero" was a little too much for her uncle. Loved her jumping through the window, was pretty awesome. I like the story Claire now has this season, with the whole catalyst thing. Shes standardly not gonna hide away!

The 3rd Petrelli brother, and (surprisingly, as he did try to kill him last ep) Arthurs favourite went with Tracy to Pinehearst to gage his "rebirth" for himself. The most exciting bit of this was Tracy going back into the building, and her subsequent convo with Arthur. Tracy basically agreed to persuade Nathan to join Arthur, not an easy task tbh, considering his mum and favourite bro are so anti-him. What is in it for her? hope well find out soon...

Mohinder still hasnt been killed off! And made another stupid speech at the start, about this eclipse that is coming soon (next ep to be precise). If they try and explain the significance of the eclipse scientifically i'm gonna bepissed off. Heroes needs to accept its a scifi show, and people arent gonna genetically mutate to have superpowers, or gain them through teir adrenaline (?) and the eclipse wont make your adrenal glands change! His lines at the end were ridiculous, describing the eclipse. "It starts light and ends light, and its dark in between". ffs

matt has been drastically underused this season, but hes still one of my faves, as is Daphne. they arrive in primatech, which is completely deserted bar a still comatosed Angela. Mat uses his power to enter the dream shes being held in. This started awesomely, Parkman finding only locked doors until 1 is open and Arthur ( check the shadow!) appears as Daphne..and stabs Matt in the back (almost eminiscent of the JD fantasy of Townsey in Scrubs). Daphne ten gets "brought in" and gives a bullshit speech claiming she "loves him". It did the trick, Matt is whipped, but back in real life when she claims to have told the truth...she is clearly lying. They have known each other 10 minutes. The writers seem to be selective as to when Matt can use his powers! Surely, if some girl you dont really know comes along and backstabs you then tells you she loves you, your gonna be suspicious enough to have a little mind read? Arthur let Angela go, potentially v.sigificant. Daphne said she "cant go back to the way I was" pretty sure ep10 will reveal ehat that was.

The episode was so mixed...sometimes amazing, sometimes a joke. Heroes has a history of handling relationships awfully. Claire/west, Maya/Mohinder were done rubbishly. Hopefully Sylar/Elle and Matt/Daphne will be given alot better scripts!

no sneak peeks/promos as the next epi is already out....
