Skins hits top form
Finally Skins has reached the heights it consistently achieved in the first 2 series. This was a fantastic episode driven brilliantly by the character of Naomi (Lily Loveless gave a great performance). Both of the "love stories" were well thought out and pretty believable for Skins. The way they are handling the lesbian storyline deserves credit, they could have made it down the line boy-fantasy lesbian kissing/more, without the complex feelings clearly involved, but they instead created a great emotional story of a confused relationship. The scene above was actually really touching, Emily has a pretty hoarse voice generally so I guess that helped with sounding emotional, but she sounded so desperate...and the last scene by the door was brilliant also...
I think all that greatness would have been ruined if Naomi had shagged Cook. We saw part of that scene in "coming up" bit of episode 1, so I was worried but thankfully she backed out!! Cook is unfortunately becoming more likeable, loved his line "You're...you know...clever", as to why he understands Naomi not having sex with him. The teacher storyline was equally great, and Olivia Colman was excellent as Naomi's crazy mum. There were a couple of things that did annoy me about this episode...but i have criticized this series enough...onto the music...
