kanye west is such a legend. his mum died and he still carries on with his european and uk tour. he breaks down during "hey mama" in paris, but carries on with the gig and performs amazingly in london only a few days later.
The Shins are an indie rock group comprised of singer, songwriter and guitarist James Russell Mercer, keyboardist/guitarist/bassist Martin Crandall, bassist/guitarist Dave Hernandez, drummer Jesse Sandoval, and Eric Johnson of the Fruit Bats. Their sound draws on several musical genres, including pop, alternative, alternative country, and folk.
I love them, they have 3 great albums. Here are a few tracks for you to enjoy
i also found you a very special treat, its only ben gibbard (death cab, the postal service) covering gone for good! i would say this, and as much as i love the original, ben gibbards version beats it i reckon.
the songs lyrical amazingness is highlighted by ben (yes we are on first name terms) in this performance.
"I find a fatal flaw in the logic of love and go out of my head"-James Mercer- great great lyricist check out all the gone for good lyrics here
After seeing them at Leeds Fest 07 i really want to see them again and im deeply regretting not going to thursday's ( 8th nov) gig at manchester academy, especially after reading this great review on last.fm and vampire weekend supported!!!
anyways, you should try out the shins, they are great! Read more...
is a legend! i sent a song into the black hole on sunday and it got played on tuesday! he said from francis in sheffiel. i got a little too overexcited really lol. but his radio program is really great!
i think i will send in a song every sunday from now on and see how much i can get played lol.
Anyways, the song i sent in was a very special cover of the postal service's "we will become sillhouettes" by the shins.
first off, thanks so much to everyone who came out to my solo shows this past month! i had a blast and i hope you guys did, too…
those of you who came early to the DCFC /Franz Ferdinand dates last spring got to see a fantastic band from Wakefield, England called the Cribs. over the course of those six weeks, the brothers Cribs drove over 10,000 miles and a van accross the US and Canada killing it every night. plus, they always seemed to have smiles on their faces when they got to the next gig no matter how long the drive or how much whiskey was consumed the previous night. even in my younger years, i never could have withstood what they weathered. :)
we’ve been friends ever since and it pleases me to no end to tell you that their new album, ‘men’s needs, women’s needs, whatever’ FUCKING SLAYS !!! pick it up and support the hardest working band from the hardest working class town in the UK.
if you dont appreciate this songs beautifullness then there is somehting wrong with you. amazing on record, amazing at leeds festy, i love the maccabees, orlando=legend.
This weekend is going to be amazing!! Friday 5th--Maximo Park and Good Shoes at Doncaster Dome Saturday 6th--The Cribs at Sheffield Foundry
i got excited today and thought that if (for some strange reason) you dont know alot about these bands then you should listen and i uploaded some tracks for you and had a look for some good old live videos.
